The new Ikea in Burbank opened this past week. I decided to go with the hopes of winning a $100 gift card (I won a $10 one) and, well, because a Krispy Kreme is down the street...any reason to be in the proximity of a Krispy Kreme, my friends. In addition to the donuts, the highlight of the morning was that we all got to walk through two lines of cheering employees as we entered the store. I felt like a football player entering the field for a homecoming game. It was fun.

Anyway, I love walking through Ikea - such (affordable) design inspiration for all the rooms of an apartment/home including the outdoor space. While the furniture is, at times, difficult to put together I do like the overall simple and clean look of the pieces. As expected, opening day was quite busy. I usually avoid the crowds by going on a weekday morning with a cup of coffee in hand; this allows me to leisurely walk through each staged room. Alas, this trip was not that.

Inspired by my most recent trip to Ikea and the noticeable increase in the focus on outdoor spaces, here are some fun items to add to your outdoor spaces as well as some links to some swoon-worthy outdoor spaces from around the web. Can you even handle the scalloped pot? Let me know your favorites in the comments!

3+4=7

I have been having some trouble sleeping lately...I don't know if it is because I am still winding down from the holidays or because of the stress associated with a new year. I know that there is supposed to be excitement for a new year -and there is- but I also have been having a lot of stress and anxiety. Perhaps it is because I was sick for the first two weeks of the new year and got a late start on my goals yet. Whatever the cause, tonight -er, morning- I decided to put some resources together to get started on my 2017 goals. As I am turning 34 this year, I have 7 goals. Some of these are as follows:

// Essential Oils & Aromatherapy //
I have been reading a lot about the benefits of essential oils and really want to learn more about the various oils and their uses and benefits. I have already picked up a Pure diffuser with accompanying Ellia oils called "get going", "wind down" and "fight it", which I use daily but I also plan to dedicate a garden bed to herbs and plants commonly used in aromatherapy - as oils or even, more simply, for the aromatic properties. Pretty bathroom corners.

// Yoga //
Like many of you, I also have the goal of being able to do a handstand! Although, more importantly, I want to commit to doing yoga three times a week. Helpful links to online yoga videos as well as places to do yoga and meditate around Los Angeles:

Beginners Guide to Handstand
Kundalini Yoga (fee is donation-based) in Highland Park at Kinship Yoga
Meditation Gardens (no admission fee) at the Self-Realization Fellowship in Mt. Washington
Sitar and Guitar meditation workshop at Namaste Highland Park

//Vegan//
I have been lacto-ove-vegetarian since I was 13 years old, but more recently introduced fish back into my diet so am technically now a lacto-ovo-pescatarian. Anywho...I love watching youtube videos of vegan vloggers/bloggers (as well as raw vegan) and am dedicated to making at least one vegan meal a week. Last week I made this amazing raw vegan pad thai. It was seriously so good. This week I made vegan cookie dough macaroons and falafel (I added sun dried tomatoes). I am not sure what I will make this week but I am really loving this 2017 commitment. Helpful links:

Hippie Lane (these recipes appear more complex so I have yet to try one...wish me luck!)

So there are three of my seven goals for 2017...what are some of your goals? How do you approach you new year's resolutions/goals so that you don't become overwhelmed by them?

2017...let's do this!

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!

I cannot believe it has been over a year since I last posted. I can make a list of what stopped me from posting (needing to improve pictures, needing a new computer as mine is slow as molasses) but the real reason was insecurity and self-doubt. Unfortunately, this insecurity and self-doubt goes against everything that 'breakfast with juliette' is about. Shame on me! It is a journey, though, and so my journey continues. Over the holiday season, I came across a quote on Instagram that read (more or less), "if you cannot stop thinking about it, then you should do it". This is blogging for me. So, alas, here I am.

Now let's talk about 2017! What are your resolutions/aspirations/goals for the coming year? I have some of the standard -eat better, exercise more- but while I work up the motivation to start, I have been having fun eating leftover cookies and searching for fun athletic ware while watching Penelope on Netflix.

Hopefully this athletic ware will inspire and motivate me to move!
Active Ware

1.  tank
2. hoodie
3. bralette and leggings
4. yoga mat
5. bralette
6. leggings
7. water bottles (one and two)
8. aromatherapy necklace
9. leggings

Cheers to 2017!
